What drives the price of SOC 2 compliance?
01 FRAMEWORKS
How many frameworks you need at once. Entry plans at Vanta, Drata, Secureframe and Scytale are each stated as one framework; more frameworks move you to an add-on or a higher tier.
02 HEADCOUNT
Company size. Drata is the one vendor here that publishes a headcount cap: Foundation covers up to 50 FTEs.
03 THE AUDIT ITSELF
A SOC 2 report is issued by a CPA firm, so the platform and the audit are separate line items unless a vendor bundles or brokers the audit. Plans here refer to partner auditors, auditor access or an in-house audit team.
04 PENETRATION TEST
Scytale bundles a pen test in two startup bundles and Thoropass runs pen testing on its platform. The other pricing pages do not list one.
05 EXPERT SERVICES
Consulting and hands-on help. Scytale bundles consulting in Build DFY and Build Stronger; Vanta and Drata route services through partners.
06 SECURITY QUESTIONNAIRES
Annual questionnaire allowances are published by Vanta (25 on Plus, 144 on Professional) and Sprinto (20 on Foundation).

Does any compliance automation vendor publish its price?
In our census of seven, Secureframe is the one that publishes a figure: Fundamentals is "Starting at $7,500/year". The others show plans or nothing and ask for a demo or a call.
Is the audit included in the platform price?
Not as a rule. A SOC 2 report is issued by a CPA firm. Some vendors bundle or broker the audit through partner auditors or their own audit team; check the plan receipt for each vendor.
Why do vendors not publish prices?
Vendors do not say why on their pricing pages. Comp AI, outside our lineup, says it prices on frameworks, company size, timeline, and audit and security needs, which is a reasonable guide to what a quote will ask you.
